When Hurricane Helene swept through East Tennessee in September 2024, it left a path of destruction that many families are still recovering from today.
Wanda’s home in Chuckey was one of them.
During the storm, the force of the flooding and rushing water shifted Wanda’s house from its foundation, leaving her home unsafe and in need of significant repairs. What was once a place of comfort and security suddenly needed to be rebuilt.
Now, thanks to the support of volunteers, donors, and our community, that rebuilding is underway.
We’re in the Second Phase and We Need You!
Holston Habitat for Humanity is currently in the second phase of construction on Wanda’s home, and we need volunteers to help us keep the project moving forward. Tasks include painting walls, doors & trim. Installing doors, trim, bathroom fixtures, appliances, and landscaping.
You don’t have to be an experienced builder to make a difference. Our construction team will provide direction and hands-on guidance, and there are opportunities for people with a variety of skills and abilities to pitch in.
Youth 13 and under are not permitted to volunteer on the build site.
